Description
The Knightsbridge BLED5BW is a 5W LED recessed brick light with an IP54-rated die-cast aluminium body and a black powder-coated fascia plate. An integrated LED strip inside a frosted glass diffuser casts 3500K neutral white light through one of two interchangeable face plates: a plain glass panel for wide diffused illumination, or a louvred grille that directs light horizontally while limiting upward glare.
Designed for exterior wall installation in brick courses, rendered block walls or cavity-wall construction, the fitting recesses into a 226x86x70mm cut-out box (included) and sits flush with the finished wall surface. The IP54 rating protects against dust ingress and water splashes from any direction, making it suitable for pathway lighting, driveway perimeters, garden wall accents, and low-level illumination around doorways and steps where wet conditions are expected.
The 235mm width and 101mm height give the light a horizontal brick-scale proportion that integrates visually with standard UK brick coursing (typically 215mm plus mortar joints). The die-cast aluminium construction withstands outdoor temperature cycles without corrosion or warping, and the black finish blends into dark brickwork or provides a contrasting detail against lighter render. The 5W LED delivers 470 lumens at source with an efficacy of 88.94 lm/W, stepping down to 110 lumens at the fitting due to the diffuser and louvre optics. The 150-degree beam angle from the plain plate provides wide wash lighting, while the louvre restricts vertical spread to approximately 60 degrees, reducing light pollution and glare for neighbouring properties.
The L70B50 rating of 60,000 hours indicates the LED will retain 70% of its initial brightness after approximately 6.8 years of continuous operation, or closer to 20 years under typical 8-hour-per-night exterior lighting schedules. The fitting is Class I and requires an earth connection. It is not dimmable.

Frequently Asked
What's the difference between the plain and louvre face plates?
The plain glass plate allows wide 150-degree light distribution, suitable for general pathway or wall-wash lighting. The louvre grille directs light horizontally while restricting upward spill, reducing glare and light pollution for neighbouring properties. Both plates fit the same body and can be swapped during installation.
Is it waterproof enough for exposed locations?
The IP54 rating protects against dust ingress and water splashes from any direction. It handles rain, hose washing and wet ground conditions, but is not submersion-rated. Avoid installing where standing water or direct pressure-washing hits the face plate repeatedly.
What size hole is needed in the wall?
The cut-out box supplied with the fitting measures 226x86x70mm deep. This box is set into the wall during construction or retrofit, and the light body slides into it from the exterior once the wall is finished. The fascia plate then covers the box perimeter and sits flush with the wall surface.
Can it be dimmed?
No. The integrated LED driver does not support dimming. The light operates at full 5W output when powered on.
