Description
The Knightsbridge 54W E40 LED corn lamp delivers 6870 lumens of 4000K cool white light from an E40 (Edison giant screw) base, designed as a direct retrofit replacement for high-intensity discharge (HID) and SON lamps in commercial and retail high-bay luminaires. The corn-style construction arranges LED chips around a central cylinder to provide 280-degree light distribution, eliminating the directional bias of traditional bulbs.
Built for commercial warehouses, retail showrooms, factories and covered outdoor areas where enclosed luminaires protect the IP20-rated bulb from direct weather exposure, the lamp fits any standard E40 socket and operates on 230V 50Hz mains. The polycarbonate tube and aluminium base housing include an integral passive cooling system that channels heat away from the LED chips, maintaining the rated 50,000-hour L70B50 lifespan without requiring external cooling fans.
At 85mm diameter and 255mm height, the lamp fits within most traditional HID luminaire housings without modification. The 125.9 lumens per watt efficacy reduces energy consumption by approximately 70% compared to equivalent 150W metal halide lamps, while the >80 CRI maintains accurate colour rendering for retail and inspection environments. The lamp is non-dimmable and carries a 5-year manufacturer warranty.

Frequently Asked
What does this lamp replace?
The 54W E40 LED corn lamp is designed as a retrofit replacement for 150W metal halide (HID) lamps and 70-100W SON (high-pressure sodium) lamps commonly used in commercial high-bay luminaires, warehouse lighting and covered outdoor installations. It delivers comparable or greater lumen output at approximately 70% lower energy consumption.
Can it be used outdoors?
The lamp carries an IP20 rating, meaning it has no weather protection and must be installed inside an enclosed luminaire. It is suitable for covered outdoor areas such as canopies, covered loading bays or enclosed outdoor fixtures, but cannot be exposed directly to rain or moisture.
Is it dimmable?
No. The lamp is non-dimmable and must be used on standard on/off switching circuits. Connecting it to a dimmer circuit may damage the internal LED driver.
What is the expected lifespan?
The lamp is rated at 50,000 hours L70B50, meaning that after 50,000 hours of operation, at least 50% of a batch will still produce 70% or more of their initial lumen output. At 12 hours per day this represents approximately 11 years of service life.
