Description

The Knightsbridge 24DC50D is a 50W constant voltage LED driver that converts 230V mains to 24V DC output, designed for powering LED strip lighting, under-cabinet LED installations and low-voltage LED downlight systems. The driver delivers a stable 24V output up to a maximum load of 50W and is dimmable when paired with most trailing-edge dimmers.

Rated IP20 for internal use only, the driver suits installation in ceiling voids, under-cabinet cavities, behind lighting panels and other dry indoor locations where the unit will not be exposed to moisture. The compact 184mm × 61mm × 32mm ABS enclosure includes integral protections against open circuit, short circuit, overload and over-temperature conditions, shutting down automatically if any fault is detected and resuming output once the fault clears.

The Class II double-insulated construction provides SELV (Safety Extra Low Voltage) output, eliminating the need for an earth connection on the low-voltage side and simplifying installation in certain retrofit situations. The white ABS casing includes blue end caps with cable entry points and screw terminals for input and output connections. Dimmer compatibility should be verified before installation as performance varies between dimmer models and total connected load.

Is this driver dimmable with all dimmer types?

No. The 24DC50D is compatible with trailing-edge dimmers only. Leading-edge dimmers will not work reliably with this driver. Check dimmer compatibility with your specific dimmer model before installation, as performance can vary depending on total connected LED load.

What is the maximum LED strip length this driver can power?

That depends on the power consumption per metre of your LED strip. For example, a 10W/m strip can run up to 5 metres on this 50W driver. A 20W/m strip would be limited to 2.5 metres. Check the strip specification and do not exceed the 50W total output.

Can this be installed in a bathroom or outdoor location?

No. The IP20 rating means the driver is suitable for dry internal locations only. It must be installed in a ceiling void, under-cabinet space or similar dry area where it will not be exposed to moisture, condensation or direct water contact.

What does constant voltage mean compared to constant current?

Constant voltage drivers maintain a fixed output voltage (24V in this case) regardless of the connected load, making them suitable for LED strip and parallel LED circuits. Constant current drivers maintain a fixed current instead and are typically used for individual LED downlights or series-connected LEDs.
