Description

The Knightsbridge 45A DP switch is a double-pole switch rated for high-load circuits such as cookers, ovens and electric showers, housed in a white curved-edge faceplate with a built-in neon indicator. The switch isolates both live and neutral lines when switched off, providing additional safety for fixed appliances drawing up to 10.8kW on a 230V circuit. The red neon indicator glows when the circuit is live.

Designed for kitchens, utility rooms and bathrooms (outside splash zones), the switch occupies a standard 2-gang plate footprint at 86mm wide by 146mm tall, and fits a 47mm minimum back box depth. The gently contoured 7mm plate projects less than traditional switches and sits flush with most plaster finishes. Screw cap covers are included to hide fixing screws once installed.

The white thermoset resin construction carries third-party tested anti-microbial properties certified to ISO 22196:2011, inhibiting bacterial growth on the switch surface. The curved-edge design softens the visual presence of the faceplate and pairs comfortably with traditional and contemporary white kitchen schemes. Knightsbridge covers this switch with a 25-year warranty.

Frequently Asked

What appliances is a 45A switch used for?

A 45A double-pole switch is typically used to control high-load fixed appliances such as electric cookers, built-in ovens, electric showers and instantaneous water heaters. The 45A rating handles circuits drawing up to 10.8kW on a 230V supply.

What does the neon indicator show?

The red neon indicator glows when the switch is in the ON position and the circuit is live. This provides a visual confirmation that power is flowing to the connected appliance, useful for appliances that may not show their own power indicator.

What back box depth is required?

A minimum 47mm back box depth is required for safe installation. The 7mm plate projection adds to this, giving a total depth of approximately 54mm from the wall surface once installed.

What are the anti-microbial properties?

The white thermoset resin faceplate is treated with anti-microbial agents that inhibit bacterial growth on the switch surface. The treatment is third-party tested to ISO 22196:2011 and is designed to reduce bacterial contamination in kitchens and food preparation areas.
