Description

The Knightsbridge 45A DP switch is a 1-gang double-pole cooker switch with a white rocker on a 7mm contoured plate with rounded edges. The double-pole switching isolates both live and neutral lines when switched off, providing the safety isolation required for high-draw fixed appliances like electric cookers, ovens and hobs.

Designed for kitchen installation, the switch mounts to a standard 47mm minimum back box and sits 146mm tall by 86mm wide — the same dimensions as a standard 1-gang plate. The 7mm projection from the wall gives a low-profile finish that sits close to the surface without protruding into worktop space or corner clearances. The white thermoset resin construction resists heat and impact better than standard thermoplastic plates.

The plate surface incorporates anti-microbial additives tested to ISO 22196:2011, reducing bacterial growth on high-touch surfaces in kitchens and food preparation areas. The rounded edge profile softens the corner transitions and gives a contemporary finish that pairs with both flat-front and curved-edge socket ranges. Screw cap covers are included to hide the fixing screws once installed, giving a cleaner finish than exposed screw heads.

Frequently Asked

What appliances is a 45A switch used for?

A 45A double-pole switch is the standard control switch for electric cookers, ovens and hobs in UK kitchens. It isolates the supply to the appliance without needing to switch off at the consumer unit, allowing safe maintenance or replacement.

What back box depth is required?

A 47mm minimum back box depth is needed for safe installation. The plate itself projects 7mm from the wall once fitted, giving a total surface-to-back depth of 54mm.

What does anti-microbial protection mean?

The plate surface contains additives tested to ISO 22196:2011 that reduce bacterial growth on high-touch surfaces. This is particularly useful in kitchens and food preparation areas where switches are operated frequently with potentially contaminated hands.

Are screw covers included?

Yes. White screw cap covers are supplied with the switch to hide the fixing screws once installed, giving a cleaner finish than exposed screw heads on the plate surface.
