Description

The Knightsbridge 45A DP cooker switch is a double-pole isolator switch rated at 45A, designed to control high-draw cooking appliances such as electric cookers, ovens and hobs. A red neon indicator sits above the rocker switch, glowing when the circuit is live to confirm power status without needing to test the appliance itself. The matt black faceplate uses a rounded-edge profile with a built-in gasket behind the plate edge.

Installed in kitchens as the primary isolation point for cooker circuits, the switch allows the appliance to be powered down for cleaning, maintenance or repair without needing to isolate at the consumer unit. The double-pole switching isolates both live and neutral conductors when switched off, providing full disconnection from the mains supply. The switch fits a 2-gang aperture and requires a minimum 47mm back box depth for the screw terminals and rear gasket clearance.

The matt black finish is a powder-coated steel construction that resists fingerprints and matches well with contemporary and industrial kitchen styles. The rounded-edge profile sits closer to the wall than traditional square-edge plates, reducing the projection and making the switch less prone to accidental knocks in tight worktop spaces. The built-in gasket behind the faceplate provides IP20-rated protection and helps prevent moisture ingress in high-humidity kitchen environments.

Frequently Asked

What appliances can this switch control?

The 45A rating allows the switch to control electric cookers, ovens, hobs and other high-draw cooking appliances up to 10,350W at 230V. The switch can control multiple appliances on the same circuit provided the combined load does not exceed 45A.

What does the neon indicator show?

The red neon glows when the circuit is live and the switch is in the 'on' position, confirming that power is available to the appliance. When the switch is turned off, the neon goes dark, indicating the appliance is isolated from the mains.

What back box depth is required?

A minimum 47mm back box depth is needed to accommodate the screw terminals and the rear gasket clearance. The faceplate projects 7.5mm from the wall once fitted.

Is this a screwless plate?

No. The faceplate uses visible screws at top and bottom to fix to the back box. The rounded-edge design minimises the visual impact of the screw heads against the matt black finish.
