Description

The Knightsbridge MR8333N combines a 45A double-pole cooker switch and a 13A switched socket in a single metal clad enclosure with neon indicators for both circuits. The metal clad construction uses premium-grade steel with a powder-coated silver-grey finish, and the unit includes its own galvanised steel back box for surface mounting directly onto masonry, concrete or timber stud walls.

Designed for kitchen and utility room installation where a cooker circuit and a standard appliance socket are needed in close proximity, the dual-unit configuration saves wall space and simplifies wiring runs. The 45A cooker switch isolates both live and neutral lines via double-pole switching, while the 13A socket handles standard UK appliance loads up to 3,120W. Both circuits feature neon indicators that glow red when switched on, providing visual confirmation of live status.

The metal clad enclosure measures 142mm wide by 82mm high with a 45mm projection from the wall once surface-mounted. The powder-coated steel casing provides impact resistance and durability in utility areas, garages and workshops where surface-mounted accessories are preferred over flush installation. Screw terminals accept conductor sizes up to 10mm² for the cooker circuit and standard 2.5mm² twin-and-earth cable for the 13A socket. The unit carries BS 4177 and BS 1363-2 certification and is rated IP20 for dry indoor use.

The back box is pre-fitted and includes knockout holes for cable entry from the top, bottom, sides or rear depending on the cable run. The front cover is secured with two visible machine screws. Knightsbridge backs the unit with a 25-year warranty covering material and manufacturing defects.

Frequently Asked

Can this be flush-mounted?

No. The MR8333N is a metal clad surface-mount unit that includes its own galvanised steel back box. It is designed to sit proud of the wall, not recessed into it. For flush installation, a separate cooker switch and socket would be needed.

What cable sizes do the terminals accept?

The cooker switch terminals accept conductors up to 10mm² for the 45A circuit. The 13A socket terminals accept standard 2.5mm² twin-and-earth cable. Both use screw terminals with captive washers.

Where can the cables enter the box?

The back box has knockout holes on the top, bottom, left side, right side and rear. Cable entry points can be selected during installation depending on the cable run and wall layout.

What do the neon indicators show?

The red neon indicators glow when each circuit is switched on. The cooker switch neon confirms the 45A circuit is live, and the socket neon confirms the 13A outlet is powered. Both neons are off when the respective switches are in the off position.
