Description

The Knightsbridge 45A DP cooker switch combines a double-pole 45A isolation switch with a 13A switched socket outlet on a single brushed chrome faceplate with rounded edges and a grey insert. The 45A switch isolates the cooker circuit at both live and neutral, while the 13A socket provides a 230V mains outlet for smaller kitchen appliances such as kettles or food processors.

Designed for kitchen installation where cooker isolation is required within 2 metres of the appliance, the unit fits a standard 47mm minimum back box depth and meets BS 7671 wiring regulations for cooker control. The neon indicators on both the 45A switch and the 13A socket confirm when each circuit is live, allowing visual confirmation that isolation has been achieved before maintenance or cleaning. The 13A outlet is independently switched, so it can remain on while the cooker is isolated, or vice versa.

The brushed chrome finish on premium-grade steel provides a durable, fingerprint-resistant surface that pairs with stainless steel appliances and contemporary kitchen fittings. The rounded edge profile sits flatter to the wall than traditional square-edge plates and reduces snagging on cloths or cables. What is the 45A switch used for?

The 45A double-pole switch isolates the cooker circuit at both live and neutral, allowing safe maintenance or cleaning without turning off the consumer unit. It must be installed within 2 metres of the cooker and wired to a dedicated 45A cooker circuit.

Can the 13A socket be used independently?

Yes. The 13A socket is independently switched and can remain on while the 45A cooker switch is off, or vice versa. The socket is rated for standard UK appliances up to 3,000W.

What do the neon indicators show?

Each neon illuminates when its respective circuit is live. The 45A neon confirms the cooker circuit is energised, while the 13A neon confirms the socket outlet is live. When a neon is off, that circuit is isolated.

What back box depth is required?

A 47mm minimum back box depth is needed. The faceplate adds 7.5mm projection from the wall once fitted.
