Description

This Knightsbridge cooker control unit combines a 45A double-pole switch with a 13A switched socket behind a polished chrome rounded-edge faceplate with white insert. The 45A switch isolates the fixed cooker circuit for maintenance or emergency shutdown, while the 13A socket provides a separate switched outlet for kitchen appliances such as microwaves, slow cookers or food processors. Both switches carry neon indicators that glow when the circuit is live.

Designed for kitchen installation within 2m of the cooker position as required by UK wiring regulations, the unit allows the cooker to be isolated without cutting power to the entire kitchen ring. The double-pole switching disconnects both live and neutral conductors, providing safer isolation than single-pole designs. The 13A socket is independently switched, so small appliances can be turned off at the outlet without affecting the cooker circuit.

The polished chrome finish provides a mirror-like reflective surface that pairs with stainless steel appliances and modern worktops, while the white insert behind the chrome plate keeps a clean backdrop to the switches and socket apertures. The rounded-edge plate sits slightly proud of the wall with 7.5mm projection and requires a minimum 47mm back box depth for safe installation. Premium-grade steel construction and a 25-year warranty make this a long-term fitting for rental properties, new builds and refurbishment projects.

Frequently Asked

What's the difference between the 45A switch and the 13A socket?

The 45A switch controls the fixed cooker circuit and must be used to isolate the cooker before maintenance or cleaning. The 13A socket is a separate outlet for standard kitchen appliances up to 3,120W and can be switched independently without affecting the cooker.

What do the neon indicators show?

Each switch carries a neon indicator that glows when the circuit is live. The 45A neon shows when the cooker circuit is energised, and the 13A neon shows when that socket is switched on and ready to deliver power.

What back box depth is required?

A minimum 47mm back box depth is needed. The plate itself projects 7.5mm from the wall once installed, giving a total depth from the back of the back box to the front of the plate of approximately 55mm.

Is this a screwless design?

No. The rounded-edge polished chrome plate is screw-fixed directly to the back box. Knightsbridge also produces screwless variants in their flat-plate range if a no-visible-screw finish is preferred.
