Description

The Knightsbridge 45A 1-gang DP switch is a double-pole cooker control rated at 45A on 230V mains, designed to isolate electric cookers, ovens and multiple cooking appliances from a single wall position. The switch features a red neon indicator that illuminates when the circuit is live, providing visual confirmation of power status before maintenance or cleaning work.

Installed in kitchens, utility rooms and catering environments, the switch allows the connected appliance to be isolated without pulling a circuit breaker in the consumer unit. The double-pole switching disconnects both live and neutral lines, providing full isolation for safe servicing. The 45A rating supports cooking appliances drawing up to 10,350W at 230V, covering most domestic and light commercial cooker loads.

The matt black faceplate is constructed from premium-grade steel with a rounded-edge profile and a built-in gasket that sits flush against the wall, improving resistance to dust and moisture ingress in kitchen environments. The faceplate measures 87.75mm square with a 7.5mm projection from the wall once fitted. Two visible fixing screws secure the plate to a standard UK back box with a minimum depth of 47mm. The switch uses screw terminals for solid copper conductors.

Frequently Asked

What appliances can this switch control?

The 45A rating supports electric cookers, ovens, hobs and multiple cooking appliances drawing up to 10,350W combined at 230V. This covers most domestic cooker installations and light commercial cooking equipment.

What does the neon indicator show?

The red neon illuminates when the circuit is live and the switch is in the ON position. It provides visual confirmation that power is flowing to the connected appliance, useful before starting maintenance or cleaning work.

What back box depth is required?

A minimum 47mm back box depth is needed for safe installation. The steel faceplate adds 7.5mm of projection from the wall once fixed.

Is this suitable for wet or outdoor locations?

No. The IP20 rating means the switch is suitable for dry indoor locations only. For kitchens or utility rooms subject to splashing or high humidity, ensure the switch is positioned away from direct water contact.
