What is ARC and do I need it?

Audio Return Channel allows a TV to send audio back to a soundbar or AV receiver over the HDMI cable, so you can hear sound from the TV's built-in apps or tuner through external speakers without running a separate optical or analogue audio cable. If your TV and audio equipment both support ARC, this cable enables it.

Will this work with older HDMI 1.4 devices?

Yes. HDMI 2.0 cables are backwards-compatible with HDMI 1.4, 1.3 and earlier devices. The connection will work at the highest specification supported by both devices.

Is the nylon braid purely cosmetic?

No. The nylon outer braid provides abrasion resistance if the cable is routed along carpet edges, behind furniture or through cable management channels, and gives better flex life than plain PVC jackets in installations where the cable is moved or adjusted occasionally.
