Description
This 3D house Christmas tree decoration is a little red cottage with a snowy white roof, made in plastic with a shiny finish. Its walls are ridged all the way round like timber boards, a red chimney rises from the roof, and the front has a cream door with silver panels, cream-framed windows with silver panes and a small green pine tree on each side of the door. It is modelled fully in the round, so the sides and the plain ridged back are finished too, and it hangs from a gold-tone cap on a fine gold-tone cord. It measures 8cm across and 5cm deep, enough to stand out on a branch.
It belongs on the Christmas tree first of all, where the red and white sit happily among baubles and fairy lights, but it is just as much at home hung from a garland along the mantelpiece, on a wreath for an inside door or from a bare branch arrangement on a sideboard. Red and white are the classic colours of the season, so it suits a traditional scheme and brings warmth to a green and white tree. It also makes a thoughtful little Christmas gift, dropped into a stocking or tied to a larger present.
The shiny finish runs over the red walls, white roof, cream door and window frames, silver panes and green trees, and the raised ridges along the walls and roof give it a cosy cabin look. Hang it by its cord over a sturdy branch, or tie the cord to a ribbon for a longer drop. To keep it looking its best, dust it with a soft dry cloth or wipe it with a slightly damp cloth, then let it dry before wrapping it in tissue for storage between Christmases. We like it hung where the tree lights reach it, so the shiny red catches the glow.
