Description

The Knightsbridge 36W LED E40 corn lamp is a direct retrofit replacement for high-intensity discharge (HID) and SON lamps in commercial and industrial high-bay fittings, post-top luminaires and enclosed floodlight housings. The E40 Edison screw base fits standard mogul sockets, and the 36W LED array delivers 5115 lumens at 4000K cool white with a 145lm/W efficacy rating, reducing energy consumption by 60-70% compared to equivalent HID sources.

The lamp body is constructed from white polycarbonate and aluminium with an integral cooling system that draws heat away from the LED array via vertical aluminium fins visible between the polycarbonate ribs. This keeps the LEDs operating within thermal limits and supports the 50,000-hour L70B50 rated life (50,000 hours to 70% of initial output for at least 50% of lamps). The 280-degree beam angle provides near-omnidirectional light distribution, making it suitable for open and closed fixtures where light needs to spread in multiple directions rather than focus downward only.

The lamp measures 216mm in height and 85mm in diameter, fitting most standard E40 housings designed for original HID or SON lamps. The IP20 rating restricts use to indoor applications or fully enclosed outdoor luminaires that provide IP-rated environmental protection around the lamp itself. The lamp is non-dimmable and operates on 230V 50Hz mains. The CRI of >80 provides acceptable colour rendering for warehouses, retail stockrooms, manufacturing floors and other commercial spaces where task visibility is more critical than colour accuracy.
