Description
The Knightsbridge T8 6ft LED tube is a 30W direct replacement for traditional T8 fluorescent tubes, producing 3400 lumens at 6000K daylight colour temperature. The tube measures 1778mm in length with a 26mm diameter and houses an integral driver inside the polycarbonate body, eliminating the need for separate ballast wiring once installed. The opal diffuser spreads light evenly across the tube length.
Designed for commercial, industrial and warehouse installations where bright, cool-toned light is required, the tube fits standard T8 tube fittings after removal of the existing fluorescent starter and ballast. The 6000K output provides crisp, blue-white light suited to task-focused environments including workshops, factories, retail stockrooms and warehouse aisles where colour accuracy and visibility matter. The instant-on LED operation removes the warm-up delay and flicker associated with ageing fluorescent tubes.
The polycarbonate body with aluminium internal structure provides impact resistance without the fragility of glass tubes, reducing breakage risk in high-activity areas. At 118.5 lumens per watt, the tube converts approximately 70% less energy to heat compared to equivalent fluorescent output, reducing cooling load in enclosed spaces. The mercury-free construction removes hazardous material disposal requirements when the tube reaches end of life after the rated 20,000-hour L70B50 service period.
The tube carries IP20 rating, making it suitable for dry indoor environments only. The non-dimmable driver operates on standard 230V 50Hz mains supply and the tube maintains a CRI of above 80, providing adequate colour rendering for general commercial use where precise colour matching is not critical.

Frequently Asked
Does this tube require a ballast?
No. The tube has an integral driver built into the body. When retrofitting from fluorescent, the existing ballast and starter must be removed and the tube wired directly to mains supply. Consult a qualified electrician if you are unfamiliar with LED tube conversion wiring.
What is the colour temperature like in practice?
6000K is classified as daylight and produces a cool, blue-white light. This is brighter and crisper than warm white (2700-3000K) and is typically used in commercial, industrial and task-focused environments rather than residential or hospitality settings.
How long does the tube last?
The L70B50 rating of 20,000 hours means that after 20,000 hours of operation, at least 50% of a batch will still be producing 70% or more of their initial lumen output. In practice, this equates to approximately 2.3 years of continuous use or 9 years at 6 hours per day.
Can it be used in damp or outdoor locations?
No. The IP20 rating means the tube is suitable for dry indoor locations only. It is not protected against moisture ingress and should not be installed in bathrooms, outdoor canopies or any location where condensation or water exposure is likely.
