Description

The Knightsbridge LFC24RGBW5M is a 5m reel of 24V RGBW LED strip light with 36 SMD 5050 LEDs per metre, giving 180 LEDs across the full length. The strip combines RGB colour-changing capability with a dedicated daylight white channel at 6000K, allowing it to shift between saturated colours and functional white light without mixing red, green and blue to create white.

Designed for indirect lighting in alcoves, under-cabinet installations, cove lighting and media wall backlighting, the 12mm-wide strip fits into shallow recesses and LED aluminium profiles. The strip runs on 24V DC supplied by a separate constant voltage driver (sold separately) and requires a compatible RGB+W controller and remote (also sold separately) to manage colour selection, brightness and switching. The 3M self-adhesive backing allows the strip to be fixed directly to clean, dry surfaces including painted plaster, MDF, aluminium profile beds and the backs of shelving units.

The strip is rated IP20 for internal dry-location use only — it is not water-resistant and must not be installed in bathrooms, kitchens near sinks, or outdoors. Each metre draws 9W, so the full 5m reel draws 45W when running at full output on all channels. The strip can be cut to length at marked 166mm intervals, allowing precise fitting to awkward alcove widths or shelf depths. The maximum continuous run without voltage drop is 10m, achieved by joining two 5m reels in parallel from a suitably rated driver.

The 120-degree beam angle from each SMD LED gives wide light distribution when the strip is mounted in a profile or against a reflective surface. The CRI of >85 ensures reasonable colour rendering when the white channel is used for task lighting, though the 6000K colour temperature gives a cool, clinical tone suited to modern kitchens and offices rather than living spaces where warmer temperatures are typically preferred.

The strip requires a 24V constant voltage LED driver rated for at least 45W (the full 5m reel's power draw), plus an RGBW controller and remote to manage colour selection and dimming. Knightsbridge and third-party options are available separately. An aluminium LED profile is recommended for heat dissipation and diffusion, though not strictly required for IP20 strips at this wattage.

Can the strip be cut to length?

Yes. The strip has cut marks every 166mm along its length. Cutting between these marks damages the circuit and renders that section inoperable. For installations shorter than 5m, cut at the nearest mark and fold back or trim the unused length.

What does RGBW mean?

RGBW stands for Red, Green, Blue plus White. This strip has four separate LED channels: red, green, blue for colour-changing effects, and a dedicated white LED channel at 6000K. This allows the strip to produce clean white light without mixing RGB, which often results in a dim, uneven white tone.

Is the strip suitable for bathrooms or outdoor use?

No. The IP20 rating means the strip is not water-resistant and is only suitable for dry indoor locations. For bathrooms, kitchens near sinks, or outdoor installations, an IP65 or IP67-rated strip is required.
