20AX Intermediate Module - White

The Knightsbridge 20AX intermediate module is a white grid system component designed to control a single lighting circuit from three or more switch positions. The module clips directly into Knightsbridge grid mounting frames from the front without needing to remove the frame from the wall, allowing modular switch configurations to be built or reconfigured without re-plastering.

Intermediate switching is used where a lighting circuit needs control from more than two locations — typically in long hallways, staircases with landings at both ends, or large rooms with multiple entrances. The intermediate module sits between two two-way switches in the circuit, allowing the light to be controlled from any of the switch positions. The 20AX rating handles high-load lighting circuits including multiple fittings on a single switch.

The module measures 56.3mm high by 24.8mm wide, occupying one grid position in a Knightsbridge mounting frame. The white UREA finish provides a durable surface that resists yellowing and scuffing better than standard ABS plastics. The module requires a 35mm minimum back box depth and carries an IP20 rating for dry indoor installation. Knightsbridge grid frames in matching white and other finishes are sold separately.

Does this module require a specific mounting frame?

Yes. This module is designed for the Knightsbridge Grid system and clips into Knightsbridge grid mounting frames sold separately. The frame holds the module in position and provides the faceplate finish. Frames are available in various sizes (1-gang through 6-gang) and multiple finishes to match this white module or create contrast.

Can modules be changed without removing the frame?

Yes. The module clips into the frame from the front, so modules can be added, removed or swapped without dismantling the wall installation. This makes the grid system reconfigurable for changing room layouts or wiring needs.

What back box depth is needed?

A 35mm minimum back box depth is required. The module itself has an 18.7mm recessed depth plus terminal connections behind, so shallower boxes will not accommodate the wiring safely.
