Description

The Knightsbridge 20AX intermediate grid toggle switch module is a single-module component in brushed brass that clips into separately-sold grid mounting frames. Rated at 20AX on 230V 50Hz mains, it handles lighting loads up to 4,600W, making it suitable for domestic and commercial lighting circuits where intermediate switching is needed as part of a three-way or multi-location control setup.

Designed for installation within Knightsbridge's modular grid system, the module measures 24.8mm wide by 56.3mm tall and requires a 35mm minimum mounting box depth behind the frame. The toggle mechanism provides tactile feedback on switching position and the intermediate wiring configuration allows a light fitting to be controlled from three or more switch positions by combining two two-way modules at the ends with one or more intermediate modules between them.

The brushed brass finish on the toggle and faceplate gives a warm metallic tone that works in both traditional and contemporary interiors. The module is constructed from premium-grade steel and ABS, with the toggle lever and visible components finished in brushed brass to match Knightsbridge's wider range of brass grid accessories. IP20 rated for dry indoor use, with a 25-year warranty.

What is an intermediate switch and when is it used?

An intermediate switch sits between two two-way switches in a multi-location lighting control setup. It allows a single light or group of lights to be controlled from three or more positions. For example, in a long hallway or staircase with switches at both ends and one or more mid-points, the end switches are two-way and the middle switches are intermediate.

Does this module include a mounting frame?

No. The module clips into a separately-sold Knightsbridge grid mounting frame. Frames are available in one-module, two-module, three-module and larger configurations, and in matching finishes including brushed brass.

What back box depth is required?

A 35mm minimum mounting box depth is needed to accommodate the module and frame. The combined projection from the wall once fitted is approximately 20.5mm.

Can this be used to dim lighting?

No. This is an on/off toggle switch rated at 20AX. For dimming functionality, use a compatible grid dimmer module instead.
