Description

The Knightsbridge 20AX intermediate grid toggle module provides multi-way switching capability within the Knightsbridge modular grid system. The module clips into standard grid mounting frames (sold separately) from the front, allowing switches to be built up in 1-gang, 2-gang, 3-gang or larger configurations. The intermediate function works alongside standard 1-way and 2-way modules to control a single light from three or more switch positions.

Designed for residential and commercial lighting installations where lights need to be controlled from multiple locations — such as staircases with switches at top, middle and bottom, or long corridors with switches at each end and in the centre. The 20AX rating handles lighting circuits up to 4,600W on 230V mains, which covers most domestic and commercial lighting loads including LED, halogen and fluorescent.

The module body is constructed from steel and ABS, with an anthracite finish on the toggle and faceplate. The anthracite provides a near-black appearance that pairs with contemporary interiors and commercial fit-outs. The toggle action is firm and positive, with clear on/off positions. The module requires a minimum 35mm back box depth and carries an IP20 rating for internal dry locations.

What is an intermediate switch and when is it needed?

An intermediate switch allows a light to be controlled from three or more locations. It works in combination with two 2-way switches at the start and end of the circuit, with one or more intermediate switches in between. This is commonly used on staircases with switches at multiple landings or in long corridors.

Does this module include a mounting frame?

No. Knightsbridge grid modules clip into separate grid mounting frames, which are sold separately. Choose a 1-gang, 2-gang, 3-gang or larger frame depending on how many modules you need to install together.

What finish options are available?

Knightsbridge produces this intermediate toggle module in multiple finishes including polished chrome, brushed chrome, polished brass, matt black, white and anthracite. Use the search function to find other finishes in stock at Niori.

Can this be used in bathrooms?

The IP20 rating means this module is suitable for internal dry locations only. It cannot be installed within bathroom zones where water spray or moisture exposure is expected.
