Description
The Knightsbridge 20A flex outlet plate provides a dedicated connection point for fixed appliances supplied by flexible cable, rated at 20A on 230V mains. The white thermoset resin faceplate measures 86mm square with a 9mm projection from the wall, and carries anti-microbial protection tested to ISO 22196:2011 for environments where surface hygiene matters.
Designed for kitchens, bathrooms, utility rooms and commercial settings where appliances like extractor fans, hand dryers, or water heaters are hard-wired via flex rather than plugged in, the plate allows cable entry from either the centre or the base depending on the routing path inside the wall. The brass terminal block visible in the image accepts earth, live and neutral connections, and the central cable gland secures the flex sheath to prevent strain on the terminals.
The square edge design sits flush against the wall without a raised border, giving a clean finish that suits both modern and traditional interiors. Thermoset resin construction resists impact and heat better than standard thermoplastic, making the plate suitable for installations near appliances that generate warmth. Screw cap covers are included to hide the fixing screws once the plate is mounted to a 25mm minimum depth back box. Certified to BS 5733 and backed by a 25-year warranty.

Frequently Asked
What appliances is this flex outlet suitable for?
The 20A rating supports fixed appliances supplied by flexible cable rather than plug-and-socket connection. Common uses include extractor fans, bathroom hand dryers, water heaters, towel rails, and kitchen waste disposal units. The plate is not designed for standard plug-in appliances.
What back box depth is required?
A 25mm minimum back box depth is needed. The plate projects 9mm from the wall once fitted, so total projection from plasterboard or masonry is approximately 34mm.
Can the cable enter from the side?
No. The plate is designed for cable entry from the centre or the base. Side entry is not supported by the terminal block configuration shown in the image.
What does the anti-microbial protection do?
The thermoset resin carries an additive tested to ISO 22196:2011 that inhibits bacterial growth on the plate surface. This is useful in clinical, food preparation and educational environments where surface hygiene is a priority. It does not replace regular cleaning.
