Description

This Knightsbridge 20A 1-gang double pole switch combines a rocker switch, neon indicator and flex outlet behind a matt black rounded edge faceplate made from premium-grade steel. The double pole switching isolates both live and neutral when turned off, meeting the requirements for fixed appliances such as water heaters, immersion heaters and bathroom extractor fans rated up to 4,600W on 230V mains.

Designed for fixed appliance installation in kitchens, utility rooms and bathrooms (outside zones 0-2), the switch mounts to a standard 25mm minimum back box. The flex outlet allows a cable to exit the faceplate directly, eliminating the need for a separate outlet plate and giving a cleaner wall finish when connecting hardwired appliances. The neon indicator glows red when the switch is in the 'on' position, providing a visible status check from across the room.

The rounded edge profile gives a 7.5mm projection from the wall and includes an integrated gasket around the plate edge for a secure fit against the back box. The matt black finish is powder-coated over steel rather than plastic, giving a harder-wearing surface that resists scratches and fingerprints better than polymer alternatives. The matching metal rocker blends into the faceplate when viewed from an angle. Certified to EN 60669-1 and backed by a 25-year warranty.

Frequently Asked

What appliances is this switch suitable for?

The 20A rating handles fixed appliances up to 4,600W on 230V mains, including water heaters, immersion heaters, bathroom extractor fans and towel radiators. It is not suitable for standard plug-in appliances — those require a 13A socket.

What does the neon indicator show?

The neon glows red when the switch is in the 'on' position, providing a visible status check. This is particularly useful for appliances installed out of sight, such as immersion heaters in airing cupboards or extractor fans behind ceiling grilles.

What is the flex outlet for?

The flex outlet allows a cable to exit the faceplate directly, avoiding the need for a separate cable outlet plate on the wall. This gives a cleaner finish when hardwiring appliances and is standard practice for water heater and immersion heater installations.

Can this be used in a bathroom?

Yes, but only outside zones 0, 1 and 2. The IP20 rating means it is not splash-proof and must be installed at least 600mm from a bath or shower enclosure. For positions inside zone 2 or closer to water sources, a pull-cord switch with a higher IP rating is required.
