Description

The Knightsbridge 20A 1-gang double pole switch controls high-powered fixed appliances such as water heaters, immersion heaters and electric showers from a wall-mounted position. The switch is built around a premium-grade steel faceplate finished in matt black, with softly rounded edges and a matching metal rocker that sits flush with the plate when in the off position.

Designed for residential and commercial installations where a dedicated appliance isolator is needed, the 20A rating handles loads up to 4,600W on a 230V circuit. The double pole switching isolates both live and neutral lines when turned off, providing safer isolation than single-pole switches for high-draw appliances. The switch fits a standard 25mm minimum back box depth and uses screw terminals compatible with typical UK ring and radial circuit wiring.

The matt black finish provides a low-sheen surface that resists fingerprints and pairs cleanly with contemporary, industrial and monochrome interiors. The rounded edge design softens the transition between faceplate and wall, giving a more refined profile than sharp-edged alternatives. An integrated gasket around the back of the faceplate improves the fit against the wall and reduces the chance of movement once installed. The switch is certified to EN 60669-1 and carries a 25-year warranty.

Frequently Asked

What appliances is this switch suitable for?

The 20A rating makes it suitable for water heaters, immersion heaters, electric showers and other fixed appliances drawing up to 4,600W on a 230V circuit. It is not designed for general lighting or socket circuits.

What is double pole switching?

Double pole switching isolates both the live and neutral lines when the switch is turned off, rather than just the live line as in single-pole switches. This provides safer isolation for high-powered appliances during maintenance or servicing.

What back box depth is required?

A 25mm minimum back box depth is required for safe installation. The faceplate itself projects 7.5mm from the wall once fitted.

Is the rounded edge style available in other finishes?

Yes. Knightsbridge produces this rounded edge range in multiple finishes including polished chrome, brushed chrome, polished brass, antique brass and white. Use the search function or filters to find other variants in stock at Niori.
