Description

The Knightsbridge 2-gang blanking plate covers unused or redundant electrical back boxes behind a matt black steel faceplate with a rounded edge profile. The plate measures 146.5mm wide by 87.75mm high and projects 7.5mm from the wall when fitted, providing a flat surface where sockets or switches have been removed during rewiring or renovation work.

Designed for residential and light commercial installation, the blanking plate fits standard 2-gang back boxes and fixes with screws through two circular mounting holes visible in the image. A built-in gasket around the perimeter compresses against the wall surface to prevent dust ingress and provides a flush fit on plasterboard, tile or painted walls. The IP20 rating confirms the plate is suitable for dry indoor areas but not for bathrooms or outdoor locations.

The matt black finish is achieved through powder-coating on premium-grade steel, which provides a durable low-sheen surface that resists fingerprints and minor abrasion better than painted or plastic alternatives. The plate fits any standard 2-gang back box with screw centres matching the two mounting holes visible on the faceplate. It does not require a specific back box depth as it's a blanking plate with no internal mechanism.

Can it be used in bathrooms?

No. The IP20 rating means the plate is suitable for dry indoor areas only. Bathrooms require higher IP-rated faceplates or products specifically certified for use in zones with moisture exposure.

Is the matt black finish scratch-resistant?
