Description

The Knightsbridge 1MREC is a 1m recessed aluminium profile designed to house LED strip lighting up to 12mm wide, creating a flush linear light fitting within cabinets, shelves, worktops and alcoves. The matt silver aluminium channel sits 6mm below the mounting surface with only a 1mm projection above, and the included opal diffuser spreads the LED point sources into a continuous band of light.

Designed for kitchen under-cabinet lighting, bookshelf illumination, wardrobe internals and retail display cases, the profile accepts standard 12V or 24V LED strip (sold separately) and requires a routed or cut channel 18mm wide to fit the base of the profile. The kit includes two mounting clips to secure the profile within the recess, plus two end caps to seal the aluminium channel at each terminus. The opal diffuser clips into the profile channel and can be removed for cleaning or LED strip replacement.

The 25mm width gives enough internal clearance for LED strip plus minor cable routing, while the shallow 6mm recess depth suits most cabinet and shelf thicknesses down to 18mm board. The matt silver finish on the aluminium minimises visible fingerprints and dust during installation. The IP20 rating suits indoor dry locations only — kitchens and living spaces are acceptable, but this profile is not rated for bathroom zones or outdoor use.

The profile accommodates LED strip up to 12mm wide. Most single-row 12V and 24V LED strip tapes fit comfortably within this constraint, but double-row or RGB+W variants may exceed the width limit depending on manufacturer.

What's included in the kit?

Each 1m profile kit includes the aluminium channel, a 1m opal diffuser, two mounting clips and two end caps. LED strip, cabling and power supplies are sold separately. Additional mounting clips and end caps are available under SKU 1MRECCAP if longer runs require extra support.

How deep does the recess need to be?

The profile sits 6mm below the mounting surface and requires an 18mm-wide routed channel to accommodate the aluminium base. Most cabinet and shelf materials 18mm thick or greater can accommodate this depth without structural compromise.

Can the diffuser be removed after installation?

Yes. The opal diffuser clips into the aluminium channel and can be removed to access the LED strip for replacement, repair or cleaning without disturbing the mounting clips or end caps.
