Description
A close-packed run of diodes on a slim white tape, this one carries 240 LEDs per metre so the light reads as a continuous band rather than a line of dots. The tone is warm 3000K, a soft white that sits well with timber, brass and painted plaster. It comes as a 5m reel and runs at low voltage, so a driver is needed to power it and is bought separately.
It suits the jobs where light should be seen but the source should not: under kitchen wall units, along the underside of shelving, above tall cupboards to wash a ceiling, or inside a bookcase to lift the spines. This is the density we reach for when the tape will be caught in something reflective, a gloss splashback or a glass shelf, because at this spacing the diodes blur into one even line. Output is fixed rather than dimmable, so we would give it a switched circuit of its own. Keep it to indoor spots that stay dry.
The tape is white along its length, which keeps it quiet against pale joinery and light-coloured carcases. The diodes are integral, so there are no lamps to change over its life; an occasional wipe with a dry cloth, power off first, stops dust settling over the emitters and dulling the output. It carries a three year warranty. We stock the same tape in warmer and cooler whites, and in lower LED densities where a gentler line of light is wanted, so a whole house can be done in one family of strip. The driver is the one extra to remember.

Frequently Asked
How wide is the tape?
It measures 10mm across, and the reel holds 5m of strip.
What driver does it need?
It runs on 24V, so a constant voltage 24V driver is required. Size it to the length you are running, allowing for 19.2W per metre plus a little headroom.
How bright is it?
The system flux is 1615 lumens, with a beam spread of 120 degrees, so the light throws wide rather than in a narrow line.
Can it be dimmed?
No, this one is non-dimmable and gives a fixed output.
Will the light look yellow or white?
It is 3000K warm white, so a soft, slightly golden white rather than a cool or clinical tone. The colour rendering is above 80, which keeps food, timber and fabric looking natural.
How long should it last?
The LEDs are rated at 30,000 hours, and since they are built into the tape there is nothing to replace along the way.
