Description

The Knightsbridge 14W LED gear tray is a 246mm circular retrofit module designed to replace 28W fluorescent gear trays in existing bulkhead fittings. The tray integrates SMD LED technology delivering 1480lm at 4000K cool white and includes a 3-hour emergency battery backup that switches on automatically during mains power failure, dropping to 200lm emergency output.

Designed for commercial, industrial and public building applications where emergency lighting compliance is required, the gear tray fits standard circular bulkhead housings without needing to replace the entire fitting. The 27mm projection allows it to sit within most circular bulkhead diffusers, and the constant current driver operates on 230V 50Hz mains. The emergency function can be configured as maintained, non-maintained or switched depending on wiring requirements.

The tray uses high-efficiency SMD LEDs rated at 107.6lm/W with a CRI >80, providing functional light for corridors, stairwells, fire exits, car parks and storage areas. The 115-degree beam angle gives even coverage across the typical 2-4m mounting height range. The L70B50 rating of 60,000 hours suggests the LED will retain 70% of its initial output for approximately seven years of continuous use before needing replacement. The Class II double-insulated construction removes the need for an earth connection during installation.

The gear tray is compatible with Knightsbridge bulkhead models carrying MLA codes BT14, BF14, TPB14, TPB28 and TPR28, plus other manufacturers' circular bulkheads with matching mounting points. The CEM-1 PCB substrate is a standard fire-retardant material used in commercial LED modules. The white finish on the tray matches most bulkhead interiors, keeping it visually neutral when the diffuser is removed for maintenance.

How does the emergency function work?

Can this replace a 28W fluorescent gear tray?

Yes. The 14W LED output of 1480lm exceeds the typical 1200-1400lm from a 28W T5 circular fluorescent tube, while using half the wattage. The mounting diameter and electrical connection are designed for direct retrofit into 28W circular bulkhead housings.

Is the emergency battery covered by the warranty?

The 3-year warranty covers the LED module and driver but excludes the emergency battery, which is a consumable component. Battery lifespan depends on charge cycle frequency and ambient temperature.
