Description

A five metre reel of slim white tape, closely set with diodes and running at 4000K for a clean neutral white with a cool edge to it. The diodes sit near enough together to read as a continuous line of light rather than a row of dots, which matters most where the tape faces a worktop or a glass shelf. Output stays even from one end of the reel to the other. It works on a 24V supply and is not dimmable, so it switches straightforwardly on and off.

We reach for a cooler white like this in kitchens and workrooms: under wall units, along the back of a shelf, inside a wardrobe, or above a pelmet where the point is light on the task rather than atmosphere. It is one we suggest when a spotlight would be too pointed and there is nowhere sensible for a pendant to hang. For a bookcase or a run of open shelving, a single reel goes further than people expect. A separate driver is needed to run it. The tape belongs in dry interior rooms, well away from splashes and steam.

The tape is flexible along its length and white on the face, so it stays discreet against pale cabinetry and paintwork. Clean it only with the power off and the strip cold, drawing a dry cloth gently along the surface; sprays, solvents and damp cloths do it no favours. It carries a three year warranty.
