Description
The Knightsbridge PM6300 is a 13A switched fused spur with a curved-edge anthracite thermoset resin faceplate designed to meet Building Regulations Part M accessibility requirements. The plate measures 86mm square with a 7mm projection from the wall and carries anti-microbial coating tested to ISO 22196:2011. A 13A fuse comes pre-fitted in the unit.
Part M compliance centres on visual contrast for users with impaired vision. The anthracite finish has a Light Reflectance Value of approximately 8.9, creating strong contrast against typical white or cream wall colours and against the white rocker switch. This makes the unit easier to locate and operate for partially-sighted users. The curved edge profile reduces sharp corners at wall level, meeting the tactile accessibility guidance within Part M.
The fused spur controls fixed appliances such as kitchen extractors, immersion heaters, bathroom extractor fans and hard-wired lighting circuits where a switched isolator with fuse protection is required. The switch isolates the load side of the unit when off, and the 13A fuse protects the downstream cable and appliance from overload. The unit fits a standard 25mm minimum back box depth and uses screw-fixed mounting rather than screwless — the visible screws at top and bottom of the plate are Part M-compliant polished chrome.
The anti-microbial coating inhibits bacterial growth on the switch surface, making the unit suitable for healthcare, hospitality, education and commercial environments where frequent hand contact occurs. Knightsbridge backs the PM6300 with a 25-year warranty, reflecting the durability of the thermoset resin construction and the quality of the internal switching mechanism.

Frequently Asked
What does Part M compliant mean?
Part M of the UK Building Regulations sets accessibility standards for buildings, requiring electrical accessories to provide visual contrast for partially-sighted users. This anthracite plate has an LRV of 8.9, creating strong contrast against white walls and making the unit easier to locate and use. The curved edge profile also reduces sharp corners at wall level.
What appliances does this fused spur control?
This unit controls fixed appliances requiring switched isolation with fuse protection: kitchen extractors, immersion heaters, bathroom extractor fans, hard-wired lighting circuits, and similar loads up to 13A (3,120W at 230V). The fuse protects the downstream cable and appliance from overload.
Is this a screwless plate?
No. The PM6300 uses visible screw-fixing at the top and bottom of the plate. This is typical of Part M compliant accessories where the screw heads provide additional tactile reference points for users with visual impairment.
What is the anti-microbial coating?
The thermoset resin plate carries a surface treatment tested to ISO 22196:2011 that inhibits bacterial growth. This makes the unit suitable for healthcare, hospitality, education and commercial environments where the switch surface experiences frequent hand contact.
