Description

The Knightsbridge 13A switched fused spur with neon indicator and flex outlet from base combines appliance switching, flex cable management and fused protection behind an anthracite Part M compliant faceplate. The switch carries a replaceable 13A fuse, a neon indicator that glows red when power is on, and a flex outlet at the base of the plate with a rear clamp to secure the cable run.

Designed for fixed appliances that require a fused connection point with flex cable exit — cooker hoods, wall-mounted boilers, under-counter freezers, integrated dishwashers and other appliances where the power cable exits the back of the unit and needs to be clamped securely inside the wall accessory. The Part M compliance means the anthracite faceplate contrasts visually with light-coloured walls, and the white rockers contrast with the anthracite plate, meeting Building Regulations accessibility requirements for care homes, hotels, public buildings and new residential construction.

The faceplate is moulded from thermoset resin with an anti-microbial additive tested to ISO 22196:2011, inhibiting bacterial growth on the surface. This makes the accessory suitable for healthcare environments, commercial kitchens, hospitality settings and high-traffic areas where hygiene is a concern. The 86mm square plate fits a standard 25mm minimum back box depth and the slightly deeper projection (10mm from wall) accommodates the flex outlet and rear clamp mechanism at the base.

Frequently Asked

What is Part M compliance and why does it matter?

Part M of the Building Regulations requires electrical accessories in new builds and certain refurbishments to have visual contrast between the faceplate and the wall, and between the switch and the faceplate. This anthracite plate with white rockers meets those requirements, making it accessible for people with visual impairments.

What appliances typically need a fused spur with flex outlet?

Cooker hoods, wall-mounted boilers, under-counter freezers, integrated dishwashers, water heaters and other fixed appliances where the power cable exits the back of the unit and needs to be clamped securely at the connection point rather than plugged into a standard socket.

Can the fuse be replaced if it blows?

Yes. The accessory uses a standard 13A cartridge fuse which can be accessed by removing the fuse carrier from the switch mechanism. Replacement fuses are widely available.

What does the anti-microbial coating do?

The thermoset resin faceplate contains an additive that inhibits bacterial growth on the surface, tested to ISO 22196:2011. This reduces the risk of bacterial transfer in high-touch environments like healthcare facilities, care homes and commercial kitchens.
