Description

This Knightsbridge 13A fused spur unit combines a switched connection with a red neon indicator and a flex outlet at the base of the plate. The rounded-edge white faceplate is 10mm deep to accommodate the cable exit aperture at the bottom, allowing wiring to exit downwards rather than through the back box. The neon illuminates when the spur is switched on, providing a visual status indicator for fixed appliances.

Designed for hard-wired appliances like extractor fans, wall heaters, water heaters, heated towel rails and fixed kitchen appliances, the base flex outlet allows the appliance cable to exit neatly without drilling additional wall holes or routing cable behind the plate. The 13A rating handles appliances drawing up to 3,120W on 230V mains. The unit requires a 25mm minimum back box depth and fits standard 86mm x 86mm mounting boxes.

The white thermoset resin construction includes anti-microbial protection tested to ISO 22196:2011, reducing bacterial contamination on the plate surface in kitchens, bathrooms and other hygiene-sensitive environments. The rounded edges give a softer profile than standard square-edge plates, sitting 10mm proud of the wall once installed. Screw cap covers are included to conceal the fixing screws after installation, giving a cleaner finished appearance.

Frequently Asked

What appliances is this fused spur designed for?

The unit is designed for fixed appliances that require permanent hard-wired connection to the mains, such as extractor fans, wall heaters, water heaters, heated towel rails, and fixed kitchen appliances. The flex outlet at the base allows the appliance cable to exit downwards rather than through the back box, making installation neater where the appliance sits below the spur.

What does the neon indicator show?

The red neon illuminates when the spur is switched on, providing a visual confirmation that power is flowing to the connected appliance. This is useful for appliances that do not have their own indicator light or are positioned where their status is not immediately visible.

What back box depth is required?

A 25mm minimum back box depth is needed. The plate itself projects 10mm from the wall once fitted, with the additional depth accommodating the flex outlet aperture at the base of the unit.

What are the anti-microbial properties?

The thermoset resin construction includes anti-microbial additives that have been tested to ISO 22196:2011. This reduces bacterial contamination on the plate surface, making the unit suitable for kitchens, bathrooms and other environments where hygiene is a priority.
