Description
The Knightsbridge CU9003 is a 13A 2-gang single-pole switched socket with integrated USB-A and USB-C charging ports, housed in a white rounded edge plate with a 7mm profile. The USB-A port delivers up to 18W via Quick Charge protocol, while the USB-C port supports Power Delivery up to 45W at 20V, allowing fast charging of modern phones, tablets and laptops directly from the wall without a separate plug adapter.
Designed for residential kitchens, bedrooms, home offices and hospitality environments, the socket fits a 25-35mm back box depending on cable configuration and provides outboard rocker switches for easier operation. The rounded edge plate sits nearly flush with the wall, reducing projection compared to traditional flat plates, and the white thermoset resin construction carries third-party tested anti-microbial properties to ISO 22196:2011, inhibiting bacterial growth on the surface.
The single-pole switching isolates the live line when the socket is turned off, with twin earth terminals providing improved earthing integrity where circuits share a back box. The captive terminals are top-accessed for faster installation, and the standby power consumption sits at 0.1W when no devices are connected. The plate includes screw cap covers to hide the fixing points once installation is complete.

Frequently Asked
What back box depth is required?
A 25mm back box is sufficient for straightforward installations with typical cable runs. Where multiple cables enter the box or cable bending is restricted, a 35mm back box is recommended. For surface mounting, a 35mm pattress box is required.
What USB charging speeds does it support?
The USB-A port provides up to 18W via Quick Charge protocol (12V at 1.5A), suitable for most phones and smaller tablets. The USB-C port delivers up to 45W via Power Delivery (20V at 2.25A), fast enough to charge modern laptops, tablets and phones that support PD charging.
What does the anti-microbial finish do?
The white thermoset resin plate is tested to ISO 22196:2011 for anti-microbial efficacy, meaning it inhibits bacterial growth on contact surfaces. This is particularly useful in kitchens, bathrooms and hospitality settings where hygiene standards are a priority.
Is the socket suitable for high-draw appliances?
Each 13A outlet supports loads up to 3,120W. The single-pole switching isolates the live line when turned off, but for appliances requiring full isolation (such as washing machines or dishwashers), a double-pole switched socket is recommended instead.
