Description

The Knightsbridge SN9001 is a 13A 2-gang double-pole switched socket with twin earth terminals and outboard rockers on a white square edge faceplate. The 9mm thermoset resin plate carries an anti-microbial finish tested to ISO 22196:2011, reducing bacterial growth on the surface. Dual-pole switching isolates both live and neutral lines when the socket is turned off, providing additional safety over single-pole designs for high-draw appliances.

Designed for residential, commercial and institutional installation, the socket fits a standard 25mm minimum back box depth. The twin earth terminals allow daisy-chaining of earth continuity across multiple sockets on the same circuit without needing a separate earth pigtail at each point. Outboard rockers sit outside the main faceplate aperture, giving larger switch paddles that are easier to operate with wet hands or when wearing gloves. Captive terminals with top access allow wiring without needing to remove the faceplate from the wall.

The white finish and square edge profile give a clean, flat appearance that works across residential, office, retail and healthcare environments. The anti-microbial coating is tested to reduce bacterial counts on the surface by over 99% within 24 hours of contact, making the socket suitable for hospitals, care homes, kitchens and washrooms where hygiene standards require surfaces that inhibit bacterial colonisation. The thermoset resin construction resists impact damage and discolouration over the product's service life, and Knightsbridge backs the socket with a 25-year warranty.

Frequently Asked

What does 'twin earth' mean?

Twin earth terminals provide two separate earth connection points instead of one. This allows the socket to be wired into a daisy-chain of earth continuity across multiple sockets on the same circuit without needing a separate earth pigtail at each point, simplifying installation in multi-socket runs.

What is the anti-microbial finish?

The faceplate is treated with an anti-microbial coating tested to ISO 22196:2011, which reduces bacterial counts on the surface by over 99% within 24 hours of contact. This makes the socket suitable for hospitals, care homes, kitchens and washrooms where hygiene standards require surfaces that inhibit bacterial growth.

What are outboard rockers?

Outboard rockers are switch paddles that sit outside the main faceplate aperture rather than recessed within it. This gives larger, more prominent switches that are easier to operate with wet hands, gloves, or reduced manual dexterity.

What back box depth is required?

A 25mm minimum back box depth is needed for safe installation. The 9mm faceplate projection is measured from the wall surface once the socket is fitted.
