Description

The Knightsbridge 13A 2-gang DP switched socket features twin earth terminals behind a brushed chrome square edge faceplate with a grey insert. The dual-pole switching isolates both live and neutral lines when the socket is switched off, providing additional safety over single-pole switching for high-draw appliances up to 3,120W per outlet.

Designed for residential and commercial installation where high-integrity earthing is required, the twin earth terminals accommodate two separate earth connections per socket — useful in older properties with supplementary bonding or in installations requiring earth loop redundancy. The socket fits a standard 25mm minimum back box depth and uses screw-fixed terminals rated to BS 1363:2 standards.

The square edge design sits flush to the wall surface with a built-in gasket that creates a clean edge-to-edge finish without visible plate shadowing. The brushed chrome finish provides a cool metallic accent with a directional grain that minimises fingerprints and suits both contemporary and industrial interiors. The grey insert behind the chrome faceplate hides the back of the cover plate and gives a defined aperture around each outlet.

Twin earth terminals allow two separate earth connections per socket, rather than the standard single earth terminal. They are required in older UK properties with supplementary bonding requirements, installations where earth loop redundancy is specified, or where local regulations require dual earthing paths for high-integrity grounding.

What back box depth is required?

A 25mm minimum back box depth is needed for safe installation. The square edge faceplate adds 10.5mm of projection from the wall once fitted, giving a total depth of 35.5mm from the wall surface to the face of the plate.

What is the difference between square edge and screwless plates?

Square edge plates screw directly onto the back box with visible fixing screws at the top and bottom corners of the faceplate. Screwless plates use a separate sub-frame and clip-on cover, hiding all fixings. This is a square edge plate with visible screws, offering a lower-profile finish than traditional plates.
