Description

This Knightsbridge 13A 2-gang DP key lockable socket adds on/off locking control to each outlet via a rotating keyswitch mechanism. The socket can be locked in either the on or off position using one of the two supplied keys, preventing unauthorised access to mains power in communal areas, student accommodation, hotel rooms and shared commercial spaces. The double-pole switching isolates both live and neutral lines when the socket is switched off.

Designed for installation in corridors, communal kitchens, workspace hot-desking areas and any setting where controlled access to electricity is required, the socket fits a standard 25mm minimum back box depth. The rounded-edge plate sits 7.5mm proud of the wall once fitted and uses visible screw fixings. The matt black finish provides a contemporary alternative to chrome or brass in modern commercial interiors and higher-spec residential developments.

The premium-grade steel construction carries a 25-year warranty and an IP20 rating for indoor use. The black insert behind the matt black faceplate creates a monochrome look that hides the back of the plate apertures. Each outlet is rated at 13A on 230V mains, handling standard UK appliance loads up to 3,120W per socket. The keyswitch rotates through approximately 90 degrees between locked and unlocked positions, with tactile resistance confirming the lock has engaged.

Frequently Asked

Can the socket be locked in the on or off position?

Yes. The keyswitch mechanism allows the socket to be locked in either position. This means power can be locked on to prevent tampering, or locked off to prevent unauthorised use. Two keys are supplied with each socket.

What back box depth is required?

A 25mm minimum back box depth is needed for safe installation. The plate projects 7.5mm from the wall once fitted, giving a total projection of approximately 32.5mm from a flush back box.

Is the socket suitable for outdoor use?

No. The IP20 rating is for indoor use only. For outdoor or bathroom installations where moisture is present, a higher IP-rated product is required.

What other finishes are available in this range?

Knightsbridge produces key lockable sockets in a range of finishes including polished chrome, brushed chrome, polished brass and white. Use the search function or filters to find other variants in stock at Niori.
