Description
The Knightsbridge MR7000 is a 13A 1-gang DP switched socket housed in a heavy-duty metal clad box with an integral back box. The unit is constructed from powder-coated premium-grade steel, giving it a satin metallic finish and protection against surface wear in commercial, workshop and garage installations where plastic faceplates are vulnerable to impact or heat.
Designed for surface mounting on walls, workshop benches, commercial kitchens and garage installations, the metal clad box eliminates the need for a separate back box to be recessed into the wall. The socket projects 45mm from the mounting surface and can be fixed directly to brick, blockwork, plasterboard or timber using the knockouts on the rear panel. The dual-pole switch isolates both live and neutral lines when turned off, providing additional safety for high-draw appliances and tools.
The unit is certified to BS 1363-2 and carries an IP20 rating, making it suitable for dry indoor environments only. The powder-coated steel construction resists scuffing and corrosion better than painted or zinc-plated finishes, and the captive terminals retain fixing screws during wiring to prevent them falling into the box. Knightsbridge backs this fitting with a 25-year warranty.

Frequently Asked
Does this require a back box?
No. The metal clad unit includes an integral back box as part of the housing, so it mounts directly to the wall surface without needing a separate recessed back box.
Can it be used outdoors or in bathrooms?
No. The IP20 rating means this socket is suitable for dry indoor locations only. It is not rated for outdoor use or wet/humid environments such as bathrooms or outdoor workshops.
What does the 25-year warranty cover?
Knightsbridge's 25-year warranty covers manufacturing defects in materials and workmanship. It does not cover damage from incorrect installation, misuse, or environmental factors outside the product's IP rating.
What are captive terminals?
Captive terminals retain the fixing screws within the terminal block, so they cannot fall out or drop into the back box during wiring. This speeds up installation and prevents lost screws.
