Description

The Knightsbridge 13A 1-gang DP switched socket pairs a brushed chrome square edge faceplate with a white insert and matching metal rocker switch. The double pole switching isolates both live and neutral lines when the socket is switched off, providing additional safety over single-pole switching for high-draw appliances.

Designed for residential, hospitality and office installation, the socket fits a standard 25mm minimum back box depth and uses screw fixings through the faceplate. The square edge profile sits flush against the wall via an integrated gasket, creating a tight seal that prevents plaster dust and debris entering the back box. The 13A rating handles standard UK appliance loads up to 2,990W per outlet.

The brushed chrome finish provides a satin-like metallic accent with directional grain that softens reflections under daylight. The white insert behind the chrome faceplate hides the back of the socket aperture and gives a defined edge to the outlet. The matching metal rocker switch maintains a consistent finish across the plate rather than mixing plastic and metal components. Premium grade steel construction gives the 89mm x 89mm plate rigidity without flexing when plugs are inserted or removed.

Frequently Asked

What back box depth is required?

A 25mm minimum back box depth is needed for safe installation. The faceplate adds 10.5mm of projection from the wall once fitted, giving a total depth of approximately 35.5mm from the wall surface to the front of the plate.

What does double pole switching mean?

Double pole (DP) switching isolates both the live and neutral conductors when the switch is in the off position, rather than just the live conductor as in single pole switching. This provides additional safety when disconnecting high-draw appliances or when servicing equipment plugged into the socket.

Is the faceplate removable for redecorating?

Yes. The faceplate is fixed to the back box with screw fixings that pass through the plate. The plate can be removed for painting around the socket and re-fitted without re-wiring, though screw fixings will remain visible once reinstalled.

What other finishes are available in this range?

Knightsbridge produces this square edge style in a range of finishes including polished chrome, brushed chrome, polished brass, antique brass, matt black, white and stainless steel. Use the search function or filters to find other variants in stock at Niori.
