Description

The Knightsbridge 12-gang surge protected tower provides 12 UK 13A sockets arranged vertically on a 460mm tall column with a 2m mains cable and BS plug. Ten of the twelve sockets include child protective shutters that prevent foreign objects entering the apertures when no plug is inserted. Surge protection uses dual metal oxide varistors (MOVs) and a gas tube arrestor to absorb voltage spikes before they reach connected equipment.

Designed for home offices, entertainment centres and workspace environments where multiple devices need power from a single wall socket, the vertical tower format reduces floor footprint compared to horizontal extension leads. The sockets are angled on the column so that plugs and cables exit at 45 degrees rather than directly outward, reducing the overall width needed when cables are inserted. A stable base keeps the unit upright on desks, floors and shelving without the need for additional fixing, and the 2m cable allows placement away from the wall socket where needed.

The tower body is moulded from black thermoset resin with a neon power indicator on the base that confirms mains supply. Each socket is rated to 13A individually, with a combined maximum load of 13A across the entire tower. The unit carries BS 5733 and EN 61643 certifications for surge suppression and electrical safety, and is rated IP20 for indoor use only.

What's the maximum load the tower can handle?

Each individual socket is rated to 13A (3,120W at 240V), but the combined load across all 12 sockets must not exceed 13A. If running high-draw appliances such as heaters or kettles, only one should be used at a time to stay within the 13A total.

Does the surge protection cover all 12 sockets?

Yes. The dual MOV and gas tube arrestor surge suppression covers all 12 outlets. The neon power indicator on the base confirms the tower is receiving mains power and that surge protection is active.

Are all the sockets child-protected?
