Description

The Knightsbridge dual voltage shaver socket provides 115V and 230V AC outputs at 20VA behind a white square edge plate with a black insert. A red neon indicator at the centre of the faceplate shows when the socket is powered, giving visual confirmation before plugging in a shaver or electric toothbrush. The socket accepts both two-pin and three-pin shaver plugs, making it compatible with most UK and European grooming devices.

Designed for bathrooms, en-suites and hotel rooms, the socket fits a standard 47mm minimum back box depth and carries an IP20 rating, meaning it should be installed outside Zone 1 and Zone 2 areas defined by bathroom electrical regulations. The dual voltage output switches automatically depending on the plug inserted, removing the need for manual voltage selection. The anti-microbial surface treatment on the plate has been tested to ISO 22196:2011 and helps reduce bacterial growth in high-moisture environments.

The square edge plate sits flush to the wall with a 10mm projection once fitted, and screw caps cover the fixing screws for a clean finish. Yes, but the IP20 rating means it must be installed outside Zone 1 and Zone 2 areas as defined by BS 7671 bathroom electrical regulations. Typically this means it should be at least 600mm from the edge of a bath or shower tray.

Does the voltage switch automatically?

Yes. The socket detects the plug type inserted and switches to the correct voltage output (115V or 230V) automatically. There is no manual voltage selector switch.

What does the neon indicator show?
