Description

The Knightsbridge 10AX 6-gang 2-way switch provides six independent switching points on a double-width white thermoset resin plate with rounded edges. Each gang is rated at 10AX (2,300W per switch on 230V), allowing the plate to control multiple lighting circuits, multi-zone room layouts, or separate entrance and exit switching points from a single wall position.

Designed for residential hallways, open-plan living areas, and commercial spaces where multiple lighting zones converge at one control point, the 2-way wiring on each gang allows the same lights to be controlled from two separate switch locations. The double-plate format occupies two standard back boxes side-by-side, with a combined width of 146mm and a 16mm minimum back box depth requirement. The white finish pairs with standard electrical accessories across most UK installations.

The plate is moulded from thermoset resin with a gently contoured 7mm profile and rounded edges that reduce sharp corners at wall junctions. An anti-microbial coating tested to ISO 22196:2011 inhibits bacterial growth on the switch surface, making the plate suitable for care homes, schools, hospitality and multi-occupancy residential buildings. Screw cap covers are included to hide fixing screws once the plate is installed, giving a clean finished appearance. The switch carries a 25-year warranty and an IP20 rating for indoor dry locations.

What does 2-way switching mean?

2-way switching allows the same light or circuit to be controlled from two different switch locations. Each of the six gangs on this plate can be wired as part of a 2-way circuit, so you can switch lights on at one entrance and off at another, or vice versa.

What back box configuration is needed?

This is a double-width plate requiring two standard single-gang back boxes mounted side-by-side at 146mm centres, each with a minimum 16mm depth. The plate bridges both boxes and is fixed to both.

What is the anti-microbial coating?
