Description

The Knightsbridge 10AX 4-gang 2-way switch provides independent control of four separate lighting circuits, each switchable from two different locations. The switch sits on a white double-width plate measuring 146mm x 86mm with a gently rounded edge profile that projects 7mm from the wall. Each rocker is rated at 10AX, suitable for loads up to 2,300W per gang at 230V.

Designed for larger rooms, hallways and commercial spaces where multiple lighting zones need coordinated control, the 2-way configuration allows the same four circuits to be operated from two switch positions — typically at opposite ends of a corridor or at the top and bottom of a stairwell. The double-plate format fits two adjacent single-gang back boxes or a single double-gang back box with a minimum 16mm depth.

The white thermoset resin construction carries an anti-microbial coating tested to ISO 22196:2011, reducing bacterial growth on the switch surface. The rounded edge softens the visual impact of the larger double-plate footprint and the included screw cap covers hide the fixing screws once installed. The switch carries an IP20 rating for dry indoor use and is certified to EN 60669-1 safety standards.

What does 2-way switching mean?

2-way switching allows the same lighting circuit to be controlled from two different switch positions. Each of the four gangs on this plate can be paired with a corresponding gang on a second switch elsewhere, giving control of four circuits from two locations.

What back box configuration is needed?

The double plate fits either two adjacent 25mm single-gang back boxes or a single double-gang back box. Minimum back box depth is 16mm, though a 25mm or 35mm back box is recommended for easier cable management when wiring four separate circuits.

What is the 10AX rating?

10AX means each gang can safely switch up to 10 amps at 230V, equivalent to 2,300W per circuit. This rating handles most residential and commercial lighting loads including LED, halogen and incandescent sources.

Are the screw caps removable for redecorating?

Yes. The screw cap covers clip into place over the fixing screws after installation. They can be removed for painting around the switch and re-fitted without disturbing the wiring.
