Description
The Knightsbridge 10AX 3-gang 2-way toggle switch provides independent control of three separate lighting circuits from two locations, housed behind a brushed brass flat plate with matching metal toggle switches. The 10AX rating handles loads up to 2,300W per gang at 230V, suitable for most domestic and commercial lighting circuits including multiple downlight zones and feature lighting.
Designed for rooms with two-way switching requirements such as hallways, staircases, and open-plan spaces with multiple entry points, the three gangs allow control of different lighting zones from either switch location. The ultra-flat plate projects just 2.5mm from the wall once fitted, giving a recessed appearance that sits nearly flush with plaster. The brushed brass finish provides a warm metallic accent that pairs with traditional, classical and warm contemporary schemes.
The plate is constructed from premium-grade steel with a brushed finish that shows directional grain and resists fingerprints better than polished surfaces. A built-in gasket behind the plate provides IP20 protection against dust ingress. The switch requires a minimum 16mm back box depth, making it compatible with shallow back boxes in partition walls and refurbishment projects where wall cavity depth is limited. Fixed with visible screws rather than a screwless system.

Frequently Asked
What is 2-way switching and when is it used?
2-way switching allows a single lighting circuit to be controlled from two separate switch locations, typically at opposite ends of a hallway, at top and bottom of stairs, or at multiple entrances to a room. Each of the three gangs on this switch operates independently, so you can have three different lighting zones each controlled from two locations.
What back box depth is required?
A minimum 16mm back box depth is needed. This shallow requirement makes the switch suitable for partition walls, dry-lining and refurbishment projects where deeper back boxes cannot be accommodated.
Is this a screwless plate?
No. The flat plate is fixed with visible screws at the top and bottom corners. For a screwless version in brushed brass, see the Knightsbridge screwless range which uses a separate sub-frame and clip-on cover plate.
What load can each gang handle?
Each gang is rated at 10AX, which equates to 2,300W at 230V. This is sufficient for most domestic lighting circuits including LED downlight zones, pendant circuits and feature lighting. Do not use for high-draw appliances or heating circuits.
