Description
The Knightsbridge 10AX 2-way pull cord switch is a ceiling-mounted switch with a 1.5m black cord ending in a matching black nickel pull tip. Rated at 10AX on 230V, it handles lighting loads up to 2,300W and functions as a 2-way switch, allowing the same light to be controlled from this ceiling switch and a second wall switch elsewhere in the room.
Designed for bathrooms, utility rooms, garages and loft spaces where wall-mounted switches are impractical or need to be positioned away from water zones, the pull cord offers control from floor level without reaching for a fixed switch. The 74mm diameter ceiling plate fits standard UK ceiling boxes, and the IP20 rating suits indoor dry locations including bathroom zone 3. The thermoset resin construction and steel internals give the switch Class II double-insulated status, so no earth connection is required during installation.
The black nickel finish provides a dark metallic tone that sits between gunmetal and graphite, pairing well with darker bathroom fittings, industrial-style interiors and contemporary monochrome schemes. The 1.5m cord length positions the pull tip at approximately chest height in rooms with 2.4m ceilings, and can be shortened on installation if needed. Knightsbridge backs this switch with a 25-year warranty, reflecting the durability of the thermoset resin body and screw terminals.

Frequently Asked
What does 2-way mean on a pull cord switch?
2-way allows the same light to be controlled from this ceiling pull cord and a second switch elsewhere in the room, typically a wall switch near the door. This is common in bathrooms where a wall switch outside the door controls the main light, and the pull cord inside offers a second control point.
Can this be used in a bathroom?
Yes. The IP20 rating suits bathroom zone 3, which is any area more than 2.25m from a bath or shower cubicle, or above 2.25m height. It cannot be installed directly above a bath or inside a shower enclosure.
What wattage can it handle?
The 10AX rating handles up to 2,300W at 230V. This is sufficient for most domestic bathroom lighting loads, including multiple LED downlights or a fluorescent tube fitting.
Can the cord be shortened?
Yes. The 1.5m cord can be cut to a shorter length during installation to suit the room height. In standard 2.4m ceiling rooms the pull tip hangs at approximately chest height when left at full length.
