Description

The Knightsbridge CU3000 is a 10AX 2-gang 2-way switch with a white rounded-edge faceplate measuring 86mm square with a 7mm projection from the wall. The switch controls two separate lighting circuits independently, each capable of being operated from two different locations — one switch on this plate, one switch elsewhere in the room. The white thermoset resin faceplate carries an anti-microbial coating tested to ISO 22196:2011, reducing bacterial growth on the surface.

Designed for residential lighting installations, the 2-way switching function works in hallways where lights are controlled from both ends, stairwells with switches on both floors, or bedrooms where a ceiling light is controlled from both the door and bedside. The 10AX rating handles lighting loads up to 2,300W per gang at 230V, comfortably exceeding typical residential lighting circuits. The switch fits a 16mm minimum back box depth, making it compatible with shallow back boxes in stud walls and dry-lining.

The rounded edge profile softens the transition between the switch plate and the wall, reducing visible shadow lines compared to square-edge plates. Screw cap covers clip over the fixing screws once installation is complete, hiding the fixings and giving a clean white surface. The white finish pairs with white walls, woodwork and neutral colour schemes without introducing visual contrast, making it a common choice for rental properties, new builds and refurbishments where a neutral aesthetic is required.

Frequently Asked

What does 2-way switching mean?

A 2-way switch allows the same light to be controlled from two different locations. Each gang on this switch can be paired with another 2-way switch elsewhere in the circuit, so you can turn a light on or off from either location. Common applications include hallways, staircases and bedrooms.

What back box depth is required?

A 16mm minimum back box depth is needed. The switch plate adds a 7mm projection from the wall once fitted, making it suitable for shallow back boxes in stud walls and plasterboard.

What is the anti-microbial coating for?

The anti-microbial coating reduces bacterial growth on the switch surface. It is tested to ISO 22196:2011 and is particularly useful in kitchens, bathrooms, healthcare settings and commercial environments where hygiene is a priority.

Can this be used with LED lighting?

Yes. The 10AX rating is suitable for all standard lighting loads including LED, halogen and incandescent bulbs. LED lighting typically draws far less than the 2,300W per gang maximum, so compatibility is not an issue.
