Description

The Knightsbridge 10AX 2-gang 2-way switch provides two-location control of lighting circuits behind a matt black rounded-edge faceplate with matching metal rockers. The 10AX rating handles loads up to 2,300W per gang on 230V circuits, making it suitable for both LED and traditional lighting installations where switching occurs from two different points in a room, hallway or staircase.

Designed for residential and commercial installation, the switch fits a standard 16mm minimum back box depth and uses screw terminals for wiring. The 2-way configuration allows a single lighting circuit to be controlled from two separate switch positions — common in corridors, landings and rooms with multiple entry points. The built-in gasket provides moisture resistance to IP20 standard, protecting the internal mechanism in normal indoor environments.

The matt black finish is applied to premium-grade steel, giving the 87.75mm square faceplate a low-sheen surface that resists fingerprints and softens reflections under artificial light. The rounded edge profile sits 7.5mm proud of the wall once installed, creating a subtle three-dimensional detail that distinguishes it from flat-edge alternatives. The matching metal rockers maintain colour and finish consistency across the entire plate.

Frequently Asked

What does 2-way switching mean?

2-way switching allows a single lighting circuit to be controlled from two different switch positions. This is typically used in hallways, staircases and rooms with multiple entry points where you need to turn lights on or off from either end.

What's the difference between rounded edge and flat edge?

The rounded edge profile adds a 7.5mm projection from the wall with gently contoured corners. Flat-edge plates sit closer to the wall with sharper corners. The rounded design creates a softer visual detail and is easier to clean around.

What back box depth is required?

A 16mm minimum back box depth is needed for installation. This is a standard depth for UK switch back boxes and allows sufficient space for cable termination behind the switch mechanism.

Is the matt black finish durable?

The matt black finish is applied to premium-grade steel and carries a 25-year warranty. The low-sheen surface resists fingerprints better than gloss finishes and maintains its appearance under normal residential and commercial use.
