Description
The Knightsbridge 10AX 1-gang DP switch provides double pole switching in an antique brass square edge faceplate. Double pole switching isolates both live and neutral lines when the switch is off, making it the required configuration for bathroom lighting circuits, extractor fans, and applications where full circuit isolation is needed. The 10AX rating handles resistive loads up to 2,300W on 230V mains.
Designed for installation in bathrooms, utility rooms, kitchens and other locations where appliance or lighting isolation is required by Building Regulations, the switch fits a 16mm minimum back box depth and uses a screw-fixed faceplate. The integrated protective gasket behind the faceplate provides additional protection against moisture ingress in humid environments, supporting the IP20 rating.
The antique brass finish is applied to a 430 stainless steel base, giving the plate a warm aged-metal tone with subtle tonal variation across the surface. The square edge profile sits flush with the wall and pairs with traditional, classical and warm-toned contemporary interiors. Knightsbridge backs this switch with a 25-year guarantee, reflecting the corrosion-resistant stainless steel construction and brass plating durability.

Frequently Asked
What is double pole switching and when is it required?
Double pole (DP) switching isolates both the live and neutral conductors when the switch is off, providing full circuit isolation. It's required by Building Regulations for bathroom lighting circuits, extractor fans, and certain high-current appliances. Single pole switches isolate only the live conductor.
What back box depth is needed?
A 16mm minimum back box depth is required for safe installation. The faceplate projects 14.4mm from the wall once fitted, giving a total depth of approximately 23mm from the wall surface to the back of the back box.
Can this switch be used in a bathroom?
Yes. The IP20 rating and integrated protective gasket make it suitable for bathroom installation outside zones 0-2. For zones 0-2 (shower enclosures, above baths) a higher IP-rated pull-cord switch is required. This switch is typically installed outside the bathroom to control bathroom lighting or fans.
What other finishes are available in this range?
Knightsbridge produces this style in polished chrome, brushed chrome, polished brass, antique brass, matt black, white and other finishes. Use the search function or filters to find other variants in stock at Niori.
