Description
The Knightsbridge 10A fan isolator key switch module is a single-width grid component in an antique brass finish, designed for installation into Knightsbridge grid mounting frames. The module uses a triple-pole key switch mechanism to control and isolate bathroom fans, kitchen extractors and ventilation systems, with the removable key restricting operation to authorised users.
Designed for residential bathrooms, kitchens and commercial washroom installations where controlled access to fan switching is required, the module clips into grid frames from the front without tools. The triple-pole switching isolates live, neutral and earth simultaneously when turned off, providing a higher level of isolation than standard single or double-pole switches. The 10A rating handles standard bathroom and kitchen extractor fans typically drawing 0.1-0.5A, with the 1500A conditional short circuit current rating providing protection against fault currents.
The antique brass finish shows a deliberately aged patina with darker tones in the recesses and lighter brushing on raised surfaces, pairing well with period properties, heritage interiors and spaces using antique brass taps, door furniture or light fittings. The module measures 56.3mm high by 25mm wide, occupying one module position in a Knightsbridge grid frame. The ABS and steel construction gives the module sufficient rigidity to withstand daily key-turn cycles without the faceplate flexing. The IP20 rating makes this suitable for Zone 3 in bathrooms (600mm+ from a bath or shower) but not for Zones 1 or 2 where water ingress is likely.

Frequently Asked
What mounting frame does this need?
This module clips into Knightsbridge grid mounting frames sold separately. Single-width modules like this fit frames designed for 1, 2, 3 or 4 modules. The frame itself fixes to a 25mm minimum back box.
Why does a fan isolator use a key switch?
The removable key restricts who can turn the fan on or off, preventing tenants, guests or children from disabling ventilation in bathrooms or commercial washrooms where building regulations or landlord policy require continuous or humidity-controlled fan operation.
Can this be used in a bathroom?
The IP20 rating limits this to Zone 3 in bathrooms (600mm or more from a bath or shower enclosure). It cannot be installed in Zones 0, 1 or 2 where water spray or immersion is possible.
What other finishes are available in this range?
Knightsbridge produces grid modules in polished chrome, brushed chrome, polished brass, antique brass, matt black and white. Use the site filters or search to find matching components in stock at Niori.
