Description
The Knightsbridge 1 gang blanking plate covers unused electrical back boxes behind a 86mm x 86mm white thermoset resin faceplate with square edges. The plate includes an integral gasket to prevent dust ingress and screw cap covers that hide the fixing points once the plate is mounted, giving a clean finish on the wall.
Designed for residential, commercial and healthcare installations, the blanking plate is used to seal off redundant socket positions after rewiring, to cover unused outlet boxes in new builds, or to temporarily cap back boxes during phased fit-outs. The thermoset construction is more impact-resistant than standard thermoplastic plates and carries a 25-year warranty against cracking or discolouration.
The white finish is an anti-microbial thermoset resin tested to ISO 22196:2011, which inhibits bacterial growth on the surface. This makes the plate particularly useful in kitchens, bathrooms, care homes and clinical environments where surface hygiene matters. The IP20 rating confirms protection against solid objects larger than 12.5mm but not against water ingress, so the plate is suitable for dry indoor locations only.

Frequently Asked
What back box does this fit?
The plate fits any standard UK 1 gang 25mm back box with 60.3mm fixing centres. The integral gasket seals against the box edge to prevent dust from the wall cavity entering the room.
What does the anti-microbial coating do?
The thermoset resin is formulated with an additive that inhibits bacterial growth on the surface, tested to ISO 22196:2011. This does not replace regular cleaning but reduces the rate at which bacteria colonise the plate between cleaning cycles.
Can it be used in bathrooms?
The IP20 rating means the plate is not protected against water ingress, so it should only be used in dry bathroom zones (outside zones 1, 2 and 3). For damp or wet zones, an IP-rated outdoor or bathroom-specific blanking plate is required.
Are the screw caps removable for redecorating?
Yes. The screw caps clip over the fixing screws and can be removed before painting around the plate. Once redecorating is finished, the caps clip back on without needing to remove the plate itself.
