Description

The Ziva six light cluster in light smoke brown is six glass teardrops on one round brass ceiling plate, each on its own black fabric flex at a different length so the six spiral down. Every shade is blown wide at the base and drawn in to a narrow neck with a brass collar, and the surface is hammered with traditional tools, which leaves the glass faceted and catches the light along the ridges. Each shade measures 20cm tall and 18cm across, and the flexes come at 65cm, 85cm, 105cm, 125cm, 145cm and 165cm.

Smoke brown is the warmest of the three colourways and it behaves that way lit: the glass holds the light and each shade reads as an amber shape rather than as a point, which is what makes the arrangement carry in a large room without being bright. Six shades at six heights fill vertical space, so a dining room or a hallway with a high ceiling is where it belongs. It takes six E14 bulbs up to 40W each, it is dimmable, and it is rated IP20 for dry indoor rooms.

The glass is recycled: the waste glass is washed, crushed and melted before being mouth blown to shape, then hammered for an irregular surface, so no two shades on one fitting are the same. The cords can be adjusted by a qualified electrician, and at 5.1kg the ceiling fixing has to carry it. The Ziva range runs to six cluster pendants in clear, green smoke and light smoke brown, in this six light size and in a smaller three shade one. Bulbs are not included.

Frequently Asked

How many ceiling points does it need?

One. All six flexes run into a single round brass ceiling plate.

How big is each shade?

20cm tall and 18cm across. The flexes come at six lengths between 65cm and 165cm, and a qualified electrician can adjust them.

Why is the glass surface uneven?

Each shade is mouth blown and then hammered with traditional tools, which leaves the glass faceted. No two take the hammering the same way.

How do I clean it?

Switch it off and let the bulbs cool, then wipe each shade with a soft dry cloth in a circular motion. Keep harsh chemicals and abrasive cleaners off the glass, and do not wash it in hot soapy water.
