Description

This is a set of two stoneware mugs made for the Christmas season. Each holds 380ml, which makes them proper full-size mugs for a long tea, a milky coffee or a hot chocolate with room for the marshmallows. They are 9.5cm across and 8cm tall, with a wide, low, slightly tapered body that sits comfortably cupped in two hands. One mug carries a bold candy swirl around a framed roundel with the words Christmas loading over a little progress bar. The other has fine vertical pinstripes, a wrapped sweet in its roundel and a contrasting handle. Both are multicoloured, so they read as a matched pair rather than identical twins.

They suit the kitchen and the breakfast table from the start of Advent through to New Year, and they are a natural pair for two people sharing the morning of Christmas Day. Put them out with a pot of tea when friends come round on a cold afternoon, fill them with hot chocolate after a winter walk, or wrap them together as a gift for a couple, a new home or anyone who decorates early. The wide mouth also leaves space for a spoon and a swirl of cream on top. The styling props shown are not included.

Both mugs are stoneware, a dense, sturdy ceramic that holds heat well, finished with decal decoration and hand-painted details. They go in the dishwasher and the microwave, and they can go in the oven too, so reheating a drink or warming the mugs first is no trouble.
