Description

This is a pair of stoneware Christmas trees, each shaped as three tiers that taper to a pointed tip and stand on a small round foot. The smaller tree is 12cm tall and 9cm across; the larger is 14.5cm tall and 11cm across, so they read as a matched couple of different heights rather than identical twins. A garland of fir sprigs runs around every tier, hung with little ornaments: drums, woven hearts, pigs and a horn among them. The overall effect is multicoloured and festive without being loud, and the two trees look their best side by side.

At this size they suit the places where Christmas decorating happens at close quarters: a mantelpiece, a windowsill, a bookshelf, a hall console or the middle of a dining table among candles and greenery. Because their heights differ, they make an easy grouping on their own, and they sit just as comfortably among other pieces in a larger festive arrangement. They are small enough for a desk or a bedside table too, and as a pair they make a thoughtful present for anyone who decorates the house each December.
