Description

A folding garden table 40cm square and 40cm high, with a top of narrow acacia boards set into a frame of dark iron. The boards are laid with a gap between them, and their sawn ends are left square and pale against the darker faces. The legs cross in an X on each side and are joined low down by a straight stretcher, and two small wing screws under the top lock the frame open.

At 40cm high it stands level with a low outdoor seat. That is the job it does on a terrace, a balcony or a small courtyard, next to one chair rather than in front of a row of them. The top is 40cm square, which takes a drink, a book and little else. It weighs 5.6kg and folds down, so it can be carried out for an afternoon and put back in a shed or a hall cupboard afterwards.

The top is acacia and the frame is iron under a bronze finish with an aged look. Acacia is dense and high in natural oil, and left outside it takes on a grey patina over time. Variation in colour, shading and grain between one board and the next is normal in the timber, and so are knots. The Yatin range also holds a bench, a chair and a coffee table.
